Revision of F2374-22 Standard Practice for Design, Manufacture, Operation, and Maintenance of Inflatable Amusement Devices

Rationale

This ballot intends to add visual inspection items for the anchoring system. Anchoring system for inflatables should be checked at every set up to ensure its effectivity.

1. Initially, the requirement for a minimum tensile strength of 36,000 psi was written to prescribe only steel stakes. Recently, the inflatable industry was able to find a durable material (aircraft quality cast aluminum alloy) that can meet all the staking requirements except for the tensile strength. This ballot will allow this material and other similar durable materials to be used for stakes.

2. The change proposed in this ballot is to be less prescriptive with tensile strength for stake anchoring being 36,000 psi and more designer based, allowing for innovation and different materials such as aluminum, etc.
