Revision of E1820-23a Standard Test Method for Measurement of Fracture Toughness
Rationale
Section 6.5.2.2 of E1820-21 states: "The critical tolerances and suggested proportions of the clevis and pins are given in Fig. 5." However, Fig. 5 does not contain any provisions/recommendation for the loading pins, nor does it provide tolerances. Fig. 5 has been revised and further provisions have been provided in Annex A2, with the addition of a Table (Table A2.1) that provides guidance for pin and specimen hole dimensioning. Additionally, Fig. 5 is now proposed in GD&T format.
