New Practice for Endurance Testing of Aeroplane Flight Control System Actuators and other System Elements

1. Scope

Develop guidance for endurance testing of flight control system actuators and relevant portions of the flight control system that addresses (1) When endurance testing should be conducted. (2) Considerations for conducting the endurance test including topics such as SAE Standards, Test Configuration, Test Load Spectrum, Environmental Conditions, Test Cycles, Endurance Testing Not Complete Prior to TC, Test Procedures, Pass/Fail Criteria, and Test Report

Keywords

actuators; endurance

Rationale

There is currently no Part-23-specific guidance on the topic; the advent of fly-by-wire systems in Part 23 aircraft is driving the need for this additional guidance material

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
