Revision of A125-96(2018) Standard Specification for Steel Springs, Helical, Heat-Treated
Rationale
This ballot is to address the following items:
1. It is common in the spring industry to set remove to a theoretical stress level beyond 115,000 psi uncorrected. The intent of A125 appears to be to place limits on what the customer can require of the spring manufacturer without the manufacturer’s agreement. Changing 7.3.2 from “shall” to a “should” statement would maintain this intent without limiting best practices in the industry.
2. The addition of a Terminology Section as recommended by the Form and Style for ASTM Standards (Blue Book, April 2023).
