Revision of D5639/D5639M-20 Standard Practice for Selection of Corrugated Fiberboard Materials and Box Construction Based on Performance Requirements
Rationale
D5639 had a significant review in 2020. The changes suggested for this 2024 revision are largely to add references and or clarify minor points. Expected changes include: 1) adding a reference to D6804 and adding a Note 7 after Section 7.4.4.1 stating that hand holes can adversely affect box compression. 2) Modify Section 7.6.1.2 to reflect that medium contribution to flat crush is most important for A and C flutes and is of less importance in smaller, more frequent flutes such as E, F and G flutes. 3) Eliminate references to figure 1-14 (in D5118) in Section 8.1. 4) Add a reference to D4169 S10.2.3 for drop heights – as an alternative to those shown in Table X5.1
