Revision of E2798-19 Standard Test Method for Characterization of Performance of Pesticide Spray Drift Reduction Adjuvants for Ground Application
Rationale
A summary of the proposed changes in this revision along with their justifications are listed below:
1) ANSI/ASAE S572 was updated in 2020, which changed the boundaries of the spray classifications. References to this standard have been updated to the S572.3 version throughout and the associated nozzle operating parameters and classifications have been revised to match the current version of S572.3 in Table 1.
2) Removed reference to “spraydrift.com” in section 6 as the website no longer exists, and the internet archive of the website does not contain the referenced material.
3) Corrected spelling of “label” in section 8
4) Updated section 12 to refer to ASTM E1519 for the threshold diameter for “driftable fines” rather than use a fixed value to reduce confusion should the threshold value change in future revisions of ASTM E1519.
5) Removed instruction to compare measurements to Figure 1 in ANSI/ASAE S572.3, as the figure is representative of how to plot measured data rather than prescriptive of what the expected values should be.
