New Guide for the Goods Movement Process Statuses

1. Scope

The Goods Movement Process is divided into 3 major phases: Planning Phase, Execution Phase, and Reconciliation Phase. At the first intention to ship, a transport unit identifier is generated containing proposed status code "200" with the equivalency of being at status named "Posted". The transport unit identifier exists throughout the Goods Movement Process ending at status "Archived" with proposed status code "800". This Guide provides status codes for all identified and defined milestones and statuses in the Goods Movement Process. Additional statuses occurring between milestones will also be proposed and will receive three-digit designations.

Rationale

ISO/AWI 8000-119 Transport Unit Identifier Standard outlines the use of shipping attributes to define a transport unit identifier comprised of date and time (coded in ISO 8601), shipping origin and destination (coded in ISO 8000-118), the financially responsible company's legal entity identifier (coded in ISO 8000-116), and the financially responsible company's reference number; and, appended at the end of the defined ISO 8000-119 TUID is a Goods Movement Process Status Code and a URL providing information on tracking and visibility that may be proprietary.
The proposed Goods Movement Process Status Code is comprised of three characters that will represent the named status or milestone when connected to the prefix "ISO.TUID:".

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
